چکیده

This paper considers a multiuser full-duplex (FD) wireless communication system, where a FD radio base station (BS) serves multiple single-antenna half-duplex (HD) uplink and downlink users simultaneously. Unlike conventional interference mitigation approaches, we propose to use the knowledge of the data symbols and the channel state information (CSI) at the FD radio BS to exploit the multi-user interference constructively rather than to suppress it. We propose a multi-objective optimisation problem (MOOP) via the weighted Tchebycheff method to study the trade-off between the two desirable system design objectives namely the total downlink transmit power minimisation and the total uplink transmit power minimisation problems at the same time ensuring the required quality-ofservice (QoS) for all users. In the proposed MOOP, we adapt the QoS constraints for the downlink users to accommodate constructive interference (CI) for both generic phase shift keying (PSK) modulated signals as well as for quadrature amplitude modulated (QAM) signals. We also extended our work to a robust design to study the system with imperfect uplink, downlink and self-interference CSI. Simulation results and analysis show that, significant power savings can be obtained. More importantly, however, the MOOP approach here allows for the power saved to be traded off for both uplink and downlink power savings, leading to an overall energy efficiency improvement in the wireless link.

On Joint Sub-channel Allocation, Duplexing Mode Selection, and Power Control in Full-Duplex Co-Channel Femtocell Networks

As one of the promising approaches to increase the network capacity, Full-duplex (FD) communications have recently gained a remarkable attention. FD communication enables wireless nodes to simultaneously send and receive data through the same frequency band. Thanks to the recent achievements in the self-interference (SI) cancellation, this type of communication is expected to be potentially uti...

Is Self-Interference in Full-Duplex Communications a Foe or a Friend?

This paper studies the potential of harvesting energy from the self-interference of a full-duplex base station. The base station is equipped with a self-interference cancellation switch, which is turned-off for a fraction of the transmission period for harvesting the energy from the self-interference that arises due to the downlink transmission. For the remaining transmission period, the switch...

Joint User Scheduling and Power optimization in Full-Duplex Cells with Successive Interference Cancellation

This paper considers a cellular system with a fullduplex base station and half-duplex users. The base station can activate one user in uplink or downlink (half-duplex mode), or two different users one in each direction simultaneously (full-duplex mode). Simultaneous transmissions in uplink and downlink causes self-interference at the base station and uplinkto-downlink interference at the downli...

Optical Wireless Sensor Networks Based on VLC with PLC-Ethernet Interface

We present a white LED-based optical wireless communication systems for indoor ubiquitous sensor networks. Each sensor node could access to the server through the PLC (Power Line Communication)-Ethernet interface. The proposed system offers a full-duplex wireless link by using different wavelengths to reduce the inter-symbol interference between uplink and downlink. Through the 1-to-n optical w...

In-Band $\alpha$-Duplex Scheme for Cellular Networks: A Stochastic Geometry Approach

In-band full-duplex (FD) communications have been optimistically promoted to improve the spectrum utilization and efficiency. However, the penetration of FD communications to the cellular networks domain is challenging due to the imposed uplink/downlink interference. This paper presents a tractable framework, based on stochastic geometry, to study FD communications in cellular networks. Particu...
